Subject: REQUEST FOR COMMUNITY SUPPORT AND AUTHORIZATION TO USE THE TOYS FOR TOTS NAME

This year's Toys For Tots Christmas Campaign is going to be tougher than years past . Due to the recent deployment of our Reserve Marines, the success of our campaign is going to weigh heavily on the support and volunteers of our surrounding community. Last year, like years past we were able to utilize our Reserve Marines to collect, sort, and distribute toys for the families of our responsible area. Last Year that was approximately 67,000 toys.

This year we are reaching out to our Marine Corps Leagues and community supports from past years to fill in as much as possible. Any Assistance we receive through fund raisers, local Marine & Navy Leagues, civilian and Veteran organizations, committees or groups is greatly appreciated.

Rock For Tots NY has been a major contributor for the past 9 years. This Year Rock For Tots has some great ideas to help collect more toys in order to fulfill the ever growing toy requests.

This Letter authorizes Andrew Walters and Rock For Tots New York to negotiate support and sponsorship under the Toys For Tots name for our local Albany NY Campaign.

How "Rock For Tots" Began

     In 1992, Hurricane Andrew hit South Florida. After hearing the pleas for help and seeing the devastation pictures of the aftermath, I felt that I needed to help in some way. I started a supply drive through our local American Legion, The Charles J. Brady Post # 235. People came from all over the Albany area, and Capital District. Some came from Vermont and Massachusetts. We sent 20,000 tons of relief items.

     In 1997, A couple approached me with a Grandchild with a rare eye cancer. They asked me to collect beverage can pop-tops to help support the Family while staying at The Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia Pa. I organized a benefit that raised over #5,000.00. By the time the child reached his first birthday his eye cancer was in remission.

      In 1999, I was the Saratoga Co. Sons of the American Legion Commander. The charitable organization I chose to support as my project for that year was the U.S.M.C. Res. "Toys For Tots" campaign. It was a success, I decided to keep it as Our Program to support our regions less fortunate children.

     Saratoga County  American Legion 2003 Legionnaire of the Year, in recognition of your years of service to The Legion, To the Sons of The Legion, and your dedication to the Marine Corps' "Toys For Tots" program.

     In 2005 Rock For Tots NY found it's way in to the National Music Scene with help from WGNA 107.7 fm , Sher Lefever ( Owner of , Confederate Starz Artist Management) and DJ Tommy " The Malt Man" Specializing in Doo Wop. Thanks to friends they have helped by setting up some autographs for me or by contacting Major Artists requesting a Autographed Donation sent to me to be raffled off each year since. Sher has joined the Rock For Tots NY team. Sher, Thank You For your dedication not just to Rock For Tots NY but to our USMC Reserve Toys For Tots Campaign, Albany NY

The Marine Toys For Tots Albany New York

WHAT IS ROCK FOR TOTS ?

     It is a benefit which supports the Toys for Tots Program. This year our Emcee, Marshall Dylon from WGNA 107.7 will kick it off with several performers from 2:00 pm to 12:00 am, and a four hour buffet from 4:00 to 8:00 pm (draft beer and soda while available). Admission will be $8.00 and a new unwrapped toy.

When is the CAPITAL DISTRICT CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY ?

     Time: 12:00 Noon to 2:00 pm. Featuring lunch with Santa, Frosty and Freckles the Clown. Admission: Children 12 & under, only a new unwrapped toy.
